Our Staff: Get to Know Dr. J

At Roni LifeWorks Training Center in Tacoma, Washington, Dr. Jocelyn "Dr. J" Perkins-Enabulele is a certified trainer/founder of Roni LifeWorks. She is an expert in the areas of trauma-informed care, domestic violence and sexual assault. She has testified as an domestic violence and sexual assaults expert witness in court, conducted more than 100 professional state and national-level workshops on these issues, and provided outreach services to domestic violence survivors for more than 20 years. Dr. Enabulele developed one of the first domestic violence African American Outreach programs in the state of Texas. She supervised one of the largest domestic violence and sexual assault hotlines that supported women who experienced physical, emotional, and sexual abuse.

 

Dr. J is a leading authority who serves the needs of an ever-changing community, school systems, and workplace. She is well known for supervising and programming residential services that serve at-risk youth and adults that are homeless in Austin, Texas; Houston, Texas; Dallas, Texas; Tucson, Arizona; and Seattle, Washington. 

While Dr. J is deeply committed to her work within the Black and Brown community, she has counseled and trained men, women, children, and families from diverse backgrounds in various communities throughout the country. This includes members of the LGBTQ community, and incarcerated offenders.

She has more than 10 years in International Outreach when serving the West African community in regions of Lagos and Benin City, Nigeria. Her international focus is to educate women and youth about health and wellness with an emphasis on human trafficking in their community.

 

Since 2005, Dr. J has been a certified faculty member at the University of Phoenix. She has taught master level counseling classes at City University in Bellevue, Washington.

  • Master’s Degree in Counseling From Prairie View A&M –University of Texas in Prairie View, Texas

  • Bachelor’s Degree of Applied Sciences in Human Sciences From Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas

  • Associates of Applied Sciences in Human Sciences/Mental Health From Houston Community College in Houston Texas

She has conducted a qualitative research for her doctoral dissertation that addressed why African American women remain in abusive relationships.
